Iguanas are women who already run and like other buddies to run with. Iguanas is a good fit for women of any age who like running and want to compete at the hobby level. If you don't want to compete, no worries. Some of us just like to run.
Iguanas arrange to meet with each other for casual, self-supported runs during weekday mornings at 6:00 a.m.
We also meet for runs on Saturdays at 7:00 a.m.
Our self-organized runs are open to Iguana members who want to run with a group. It’s a great way to meet other women runners and to help get the exercise you like before the day begins!
Most Iguanas also train with a coach who works with us to customize and tailor our personal training program, goals and interests.
Track training sessions are held in Golden Gate Park at Kezar Stadium track every Monday morning at 6 a.m. We arrive early to warm-up, and are ready to go by 6:05 - 6:10 a.m. We finish training by 7 a.m.
Track training combines a mix of speed and pacing ranging from 200 meter to 2 kilometer reps in order to help develop good form and technique. Video analysis is used to help with technique.
Beyond running, Iguanas also like to share training focuses and other small workouts with each other — running, cycling, swimming, multi-sport, x-country skiing, yoga, or pilates.
