How Team Standings Are Calculated

Added by Don Zinter

When you have a match, you’re playing twice against your opponents. If you win both games, your team gets 2 points, and it is counted as a Win. The other team gets 0 points and a Loss.
If you split with your opponents, each team gets 1 point. Neither team gets a Win or Loss since the match was a tie.

The Playpass software keeps track on this and ranks the teams based on percentage of points won. (When there's a tie, there are secondary sort criteria.)

The displayed table shows the data, as you can see.

PF means “Points For”
PA means “Points Against”
PD means “Points Difference” and this doesn’t have much meaning for us.

We will update scoring and standings about once a week. Please continue to write your win/loss reporting in the Bocce Notebook that is kept behind the Front Desk (on the table behind the desk against the wall.)

If you are making up a match, please enter the win/loss information on the sheet on the originally scheduled date. It doesn’t matter when you play your make-up. It’s easiest for us for you to fill in the original date’s win/loss boxes.

Please don't throw away any of the notebook sheets, even if they are old.

Thanks, and as always, if you have comments or questions, please relay them to anybody on the Bocce Committee.
