The Nashville Curling Club has several people who have completed "instructor" and other trainings through USA Curling.
USA Curling certified instructors assist new players during introductory on-ice experiences and Learn-to-Curl programs. Certification requires active membership, completion of specific training levels, background screening, and annual SafeSport training.
USA Curling offers two levels of instructor certification:
-
Level 1 Instructor: Prepares individuals to teach newcomers the basics of delivery, sweeping, and scoring in a fun, safe environment
-
Level 2 Instructor: Advanced certification path for experienced teachers looking to refine teaching techniques or become regional Course Conductors
USA Curling offers several other certifications, including for course conductors and game officials:
-
Level 1 Instructor Course Conductor: Certifies individuals to lead Level 1 Instructor courses at their home- and nearby-clubs.
-
Level 2 Instructor Course Conductor: Elevates the level of proficiency for individuals to be qualified to lead Level 2 Instructor courses.
-
Level 1 Official: Trained in umpiring and timing competitive curling games.
-
Level 2 Official: Trained as a Game Umpire to oversee game timers and communicate with other game umpires on the ice.
-
Level 3 Official: These individuals are recommended to World Curling for International/World Championships games.
-
Level 4 Official: This level is available by invitation only. These individuals manage the USA Curling Officiating Program.
More information about these certifications and pathways can be found on USA Curling's Member Programs webpage
