Backyard Pickleball Rules

1. Serve underhand from behind the end-line (from the grass)
2. Serve cross court (diagonally) into service area (cannot land in the kitchen); if a fault is made during the serve, the serve goes to opposing team
3. Only score when you are serving (alternate serve with partner) 3a. Both players from each team serve each round with the exception of 1st round to minimize advantage of serving first. 3b. Scoring in pickle ball consists of 3 numbers: server score, receiver score, player # (1 or 2)
4. Double bounce rule: the ball must bounce on both sides of the course before it can be hit out of air (with no bounce)
5. Ball cannot be hit from kitchen unless the ball lands in the kitchen (no spiking or standing in the kitchen without cause)
6. A ball that lands on the line is in bounds and play should continue

Teams play best of 3 games to 11 points. Teams must alternate sides when first team reaches 6 points each game. Service is determined by flip of coin. Must win by 2 points.
