Umstead Volleyball League is back for the Spring 2026 Thursday Night Session!

Looking for a fun, welcoming, community-driven volleyball night? Thursday is perfect for free agents, newer players, and teams who want competitive games without the pressure.

We’re bringing co-ed 4-on-4 sand volleyball back to Umstead with great energy, good competition, and even better vibes.

📅 Key Dates:

Open Play Night (Free!): Thursday, March 19
Come meet other players, find a team (or add to yours), and get comfortable on the sand before the season starts. No pressure—just play.

First Game Night: Thursday, March 26

Regular Season: 7 weeks of match play from March 26 – May 7

Tournament Night: Thursday, May 14
Top 8 teams compete in a single-elimination bracket, with a mini bracket for remaining teams so everyone stays in the action.

Weather Buffer Week: May 21
(If weather cooperates all season, this becomes a bonus open play night!)

🏐 League Format:

• Co-ed 4-on-4 beach volleyball
• 14 team slots available (first come, first served!)
• We aim to play 3 matches per night, daylight permitting
• 40-minute match blocks starting at 6:00 PM
• Weekly post-game hangouts to connect and build community

No team? No problem.

Thursday nights are especially great for free agents — we actively build teams around individual signups to create balanced, fun squads.

📍 Location:

All games played at Umstead Park in Chapel Hill.

💸 Registration Details:

Team Fee: $275
Free Agent Fee: $75

All players must sign a waiver before their first game.
Teams are locked in once payment is received.

Spots are capped at 14 teams and often fill quickly.
