Cards & Suspensions:

Green Card – Two Minute Suspension

For any offense, the offending player may be warned (indicated by a green card).
Where a green card is issued the offending player shall be temporarily suspended for two (2) minutes.

Yellow Card – Temporary Suspension
For an offense where the offending player is temporarily suspended (indicated by a yellow card).
a. Where a yellow card is issued the offending player shall be temporarily suspended for a minimum of five (5) minutes.

b. The exact length of suspension shall be indicated to the technical officials by the umpire who issued the yellow card.

For any offense where a green or yellow card is issued, the following applies:
a. For the duration of each temporary substitution, the offending team plays with one fewer
player.

b. If a field player receives a card, the Umpires stop the match (but not necessarily the time) to issue the card; if time has been stopped, the Umpires restart it immediately after issuing the card.

c. If a goalkeeper receives a card, the Umpires stop the time and restart it immediately after that player has left the field of play.

d. The offending player must leave the field immediately. If the player interferes with play on the way to the designated suspension area the Umpire may further penalize the player in accordance with the Rules of Hockey.

Umpire Abuse
All umpire abuse deemed unsportsmanlike behavior will result in an automatic 10 minute yellow card
Players who receive 2 yellow cards (in consecutive games) for umpire abuse will automatically receive a 1 game suspension
Players who receive a 3rd yellow card after their initial suspension will automatically receive a series suspension
These suspensions do not require disciplinary committee review
There will be zero tolerance for swarming of umpires or officials - any swarming will result in a team fine ($100) that must be paid prior to the next match, these incidents can be handled by the umpire(s) or FOM as required.

Red Card - Game(s) or Series Suspension
For any offense that the umpire or umpire manager sees during or after game play.
Physical tackle
Dangerous actions during field of play
Verbal abuse
Non-verbal dissent
Off-Field misconduct
Physical abuse to players, umpires or community members
Verbal or Non-verbal abuse / intimidation of players, umpire or community members
The player must gather their belongings and leave the playing field immediately - this depends on the field location
Player suspension(s)
Reports for red cards must be created by the following members
Umpire who issued the red card
Umpire Manager (if present) on what they saw
Field Operations Manager
Home & Away Coach
IF a serious infraction involving physical violence Series Liaisons and community members may provide a report on what they witnessed
After the game the FOM will receive reports from those mentioned above and send the reports to the disciplinary committee. The committee will review reports and then make a decision using the outcomes below.
1 game suspension
2 game suspension
Series suspension
Lifetime Ban from MVPL Spring Series Events
Lifetime Ban from all MVPL Events which include playing, coaching or participating in any form
