Special presentations by:

Dr. Jason Kalirai, STSci, "Hubble's Recent Hits and a Look Forward to the James Webb Space Telescope".

In this presentation, Dr. Jason Kalirai will show beautiful images and discoveries about the wonders of the Universe from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. These scientific projects have reshaped our understanding of what our place in the cosmos is. As Hubble continues to amaze us with its breathtaking imagery, it has also turned up new mysteries. To answer these, NASA is building the much more powerful James Webb Space Telescope, set to launch next year. With its 21 foot gold mirror and sensitivity to "invisible" infrared light, Webb will open up entirely new scientific frontiers and will represent our deepest space exploration project. This incredible facility represents a new generation's Hubble, and is about to usher in a new era of precision space astronomy.

Craig Holcomb, National Security Agency (NSA), “Winning Games, Luck or Logic?"

In this presentation, students will be introduced to the basic concepts of game theory. They play familiar games such as tic-tac-toe and rock-paper-scissors and examine the strategies required to win. Students are also introduced to variations on these games and must extend their analysis to determine how to adapt winning strategies.

*Bake Sale with Lunch Items will be available on site.
