Cardiff Beach Volleyball Club Mission Statement - Mar 2025
Cardiff Beach Volleyball Club was founded in 2015 by Carl Harwood and Mike Constantinou as a non-profit community amateur sports club. Under their direction, the club has grown to be the biggest beach volleyball club across Wales and the South West of England.
The main objectives of our club are:
- To encourage the practice, promotion, development and participation in volleyball by children and adults in Cardiff and the wider community
- To provide training and coaching for all levels
- To offer and host both social and competitive tournaments and events
- To organize and develop teams to represent the Club in a range of opportunities.
We wish to be a welcoming and inclusive community, and we expect all our players, coaches, parents/guardians, volunteers and club officials to respect the rights, dignity and value of everyone, regardless of their gender, sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs.
The club is affiliated to it’s national governing bodies Volleyball Wales and Volleyball England and guided by their policies on ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all involved.

Cardiff Beach Volleyball Club Code of Conduct – March 2025
Cardiff Beach Volleyball Club is committed to protecting and promoting the safety and wellbeing of all people attending the venue.
All players, parents, carers, coaches, club officials and volunteers associated with the club must at all times abide by our code of conduct as follows:
Our club is located in a public park in a residential area. Respect our neighbourhood and do not cause unnecessary disturbance.
- Avoid shouting, swearing, littering and other antisocial behaviours
- Comply with all local, and national laws, including but not limited to regulations regarding alcohol consumption, drugs, and the environment.
- Remind other users to do the same if needed.
Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Play your part.
- Wear appropriate attire for playing beach volleyball
- Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks when necessary to prevent heat-related illnesses.
- Playing in cold or wet conditions is an option, but you must ensure you wear appropriate clothing, stay warm and respect weather warnings at all times.
- Ensure your coach or event organiser is aware of relevant health conditions and immediately notify a staff member or organizer if you feel unwell, injured, or unable to continue playing.
- Support others when they are unwell.
- Promptly abide by safety briefings and adhere to equipment guidelines provided.
- Always remove objects that could cause harm from the sand (chairs, rakes, clothes, bags, sharp objects, litter etc).
- Report to club officials present or email cardiffbeachvolleyball@gmail.com any hazards, unsafe conditions, or issues regarding the playing area that you cannot address yourself.
- Remind others to do the same if needed.
Respect and take care of our facilities. Maintenance almost entirely relies on volunteers, and that includes YOU
- Do not share key codes, they are strictly for members only.
- Clear up litter (yours and others), ALWAYS RAKE THE COURTS AFTER YOU FINISH, and put the rakes in their shed safely.
- Consider saying yes sometimes, when we ask for volunteers to help with projects/tasks
- Make sure you lock up all doors and gate areas if you are the last to leave.
- Speak up and remind other users too if needed.
Behave respectfully towards each other.
- Treat all participants, parents, guardians, coaches, referees, event organizers, club officials and volunteers with respect and courtesy, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, ability, cultural background or religion.
- Refrain from using foul language, offensive behaviour, or engaging in any form of harassment or violence.
- Use sportsmanship and fair play at all times, understanding that the spirit of the game is built on respect and cooperation.
- Play within the rules and publicly respect coaches, referees and other officials and their decisions.
- Be punctual and inform your coach or event organiser timely if you are going to be absent or late.
- Players must pay any fees for membership, training or events promptly.
Media and Photography Consent
- I consent to the use of my image, voice, and/or likeness in photographs, videos, or other media related to the event, and I waive any rights to compensation for such usage.
Waiver of Liability
- I hereby release and hold harmless the event organizers, sponsors, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action that may arise from my participation in this event, including but not limited to injury, loss, or damage to personal property. I understand that the event organizers take reasonable precautions, but I accept full responsibility for my actions and health during the event.
Coaches, assistant coaches, club officials and volunteers are important club role models in fostering an inclusive, safe and positive atmosphere. They are expected to:
- Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover
- Abide by the guidance provided by our club and governing bodies Volleyball Wales and Volleyball England, including their safeguarding policies for Children, young people and vulnerable adults. https://www.volleyballengland.org/support/safeguarding-and-welfare
- Consistently show high standards of behaviour and use appropriate language at all times.
- Act in a morally responsible manner with everyone, and particularly with young people.
- Develop an appropriate working relationship with players, based on mutual trust and respect.
- Always put the well-being and safety of players before the development of performance.
- Encourage fair play and good sportsmanship, valuing effort and performance, not just match results.
- Do not consume alcohol whilst working, or whilst in the presence of young people.
- Never condone bad behaviour in others either.
