There will be no refund of Registration Fees after the first night of regular play. The cut off date for adding any new player(s) is the first playing week in December. The league President must be notified of any changes to the team roster. Should a team lose several players to injury or maternity and fall to 5 players then the executive must be notified, and a team can add a maximum of 2 players to bring the team roster back to 7. A waiver must be signed by any new player and the President must be provided with a copy of the waiver prior to the first game they play. Any games played with an illegal player will result in the games being forfeited and a fine of $25.00 will be imposed and a suspension of the player and the Captain will be set equal to the number of games the illegal player has played
Each team must have a reliable captain and co-captain and they will be responsible for enforcing these rules.
Teams can play with no less than four players at any given time. Should a team need a player to bring them to 4 players for the game they can pick up an individual from their league or a league below. You may only add a player not on your roster to bring the team to 4 players only for the game. If there are not enough players to start the first game, a five-minute grace period is given, after which the team will forfeit the first game of the match. After a 10-minute grace period, the second game of the match is forfeited. And after fifteen minutes, the third and final game is forfeited. If all three games are forfeited, the team will be fined $25.00 payable BEFORE their next scheduled match. If the fine is not paid, the team may be suspended from the league. Fines are to be submitted to the league President or Treasurer.
If a player in this league misses three or more consecutive scheduled matches, she can be suspended from the league at the discretion of the team captain/co-captain and team.
No children under the age of fourteen, with or without supervision, are allowed in the school. This is a rule set down by the league. There are no exceptions. (No pets are allowed). Should a team not adhere to this rule the grace period in rule #3 will be imposed until the child is removed from the school.
Players and spectators are not allowed to bring food or beverages other than water into the school.
Captains are required to notify the league president of any changes to their email contact information. Should this information not be updated, and meetings or games are missed, a fine of $25.00 will be imposed for each infraction.
Captains will be emailed by a member of the executive if games are cancelled. If the weather is inclement, the whole night will be cancelled, and games will be rescheduled.
NO SMOKING is permitted in the building or on the building premises.
There will be a maximum of five consecutive serves per player, and then the team will rotate.
Substitution onto the floor is done by rotation into the center back position. All players in the league must have equal playing time. If a player substitutes out during the game, that player cannot return until the next game. If a player is injured on the court, a substitute will take the place of the injured player and the injured player cannot return until the next game. If a late player arrives during the first match, that player can rotate into the center back position at any time.
Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) rules apply, except for OVA rule 6 (scoring) and OVA rule 7 (substitutions). Teams are expected to use good conduct while on the court. The referees’ ruling is final and should not be argued. Only captains may ask for clarification of a call.
Each team must have a representative at every league meeting. If a representative is not present, your team will be fined $25.00. This fine must be paid prior to your next scheduled league game. If the fine is not paid, the team may be suspended from the league. Fines are to be submitted to the league President or Treasurer
Players may play in two divisions, but a lower division team may only carry two players from a team one division higher, in fairness to the weaker teams. Teams cannot pickup players who are currently playing Varsity College, university or competitive league volleyball. Players cannot play for more than one team in the same division.
The referee will handle any disorderly conduct and/or drunkenness. The referee will direct the captain to remove the offending player or players from the court. If the player or players do not leave, the team will forfeit the game(s) and a $25.00 fine will be imposed
No player or spectator is permitted to harass, threaten or verbally abuse any referee. Should the team or the spectator of that team not adhere to this rule the team will forfeit the game and will be fined $25.00. Should the team refuse to leave the premises a call will be made by the opposing team to the police.
Each regular season game will consist of games on rally point to a maximum of 25 points except for C division which will play to 30 points, there is no 2-point spread required to finish the match.
Regular season matches will last a maximum of 50 minutes. The referee will give a five then one-minutes warning. If time expires before the game is complete, the standing score will become final.
Players must be 18 years of age to play as of the state date of the season.
The league executive has final authority to enforce, revise, alter and interpret all rules upon consultation with division representatives.
