Freeport Youth Football Organization's mission is to teach our youth introductory and fundamental football skills in a fun and nurturing environment while maintaining age-appropriate and educationally/psychologically sound objectives of athletic participation. Our goal is to provide full-contact, tackle football for children ages 6-12 with no weight restrictions and cheer for young ladies ages 5-12 (4 years old allowed, if attending Pre-K, Headstart)
FYFO is a developmental league used to prepare our children for Jr High and High school sport and cheerleading and also provide a place of positive mentorship for those that may be missing the type of leadership needed to survive in the real world. Our football teams consist of 3 competitive divisions, separated by age only. Our season typically runs from August until early November. Teams are coached by volunteers, usually former collegiate athletes and/or parents of a child participant. Games are usually on Saturday evenings and are normally held on area HS football fields.
The regular cost of membership is $175 per player and $75 for each additional participant from the same household. Those who register early (before July 1st) will receive a $25 discount. Players will receive all gear needed to play, with the exception of cleats, socks, practice pants and mouthpieces. Parents have the option of providing their own equipment as long as it meets the league safety standards and matches the team color specifications.
We will hold registrations each Saturday from June-July, in person, at the Freeport Recreation Center. You may also sign up online if registering 2 kids or less. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis, so register as soon as possible. Registration cut-off is the day before our first practice. Each team has a maximum of 25 players and each player is required to participate in at least 10 plays.
