This term in Woodworking ECA students will be reviewing names of simple tools when woodworking and we will be introducing power tools! Students will not be using the power tools in ECA at this time but they will begin to observe the safety and function of these tools when working with wood to create different projects. We will be making a wooden game set with natural wood, making a cutting board, and researching and finding different project ideas for students to choose a passion project for them to work on this term. Students will learn about the different types of wood and how you must choose the wood that you are working with to meet the needs of the project you are working on. Students will know that some projects can be made using older wood which will give a unique and antique look for their project while other projects will require a sturdier wood. For this term as our school improvement project we be to create a wooden hopscotch for our new playground. This game board is like a bean bag toss game and is large and will be used by our students during recess time. Look forward to a great and educational time working with wood, calculating measurements, and exploring creativity all in one ECA!
