2020 DHS 3v3 Tournament Rules

2020 Tournament - Ages 2008-2012

Each team will be assigned a Coach from the DHS Varsity Girls/Boys soccer team. This Coach will be responsible for the same team through the day.

There will be one referee per game, also a DHS Varsity Girls/Boys soccer player. The referee will responsible for enforcing all of the below rules for tournament play.

Games are played with the official FIFA rules. Exceptions are below.

Player registration: Please arrive 45-60 minutes before first kick off at the check-in table at the DHS Stadium. All players must be present for check in. All rosters are final after the start of the first game. No team is allowed to have more than 5 players. A minimum of 3 players per team.

Age of Participants: The age group of each team is determined by the birthdate of the oldest player on the roster (see below for age group breakdown).

U8: Players born in 2012
U9: Players born in 2011
U10: Players born in 2010
U11: Players born in 2009
U12: Players born in 2008

No offsides!

No scoring from own half!

No goalkeepers!

Substitution: Substitutions may be made during dead-ball situations, regardless of possession. Teams must gain the referees attention and players must enter and exit at mid-field. Substitutions should not be made on the fly!

Five yard rule: Defending players must keep 5 yards distance from the ball on all kick-ins, kick offs, free kicks and goal kicks.

Kick-ins: Instead of throw-ins.

Indirect kicks: All free kicks, kick-ins and kick offs are indirect. Penalty kicks and corners are direct.

Goal kicks: Taken from any point from the end line.

Kick off: Can be taken in any direction.

Penalty kicks: It is a direct kick taken from the center of the midfield line with all players behind the midfield line and the player taking the kick. This is a ‘dead ball’ kick.

No Slide Tackling: If a player is sliding, no contact is allowed. If a player slides and contact is initiated, a free kick shall be awarded to the opposing team. This does not prevent players from sliding to stop/intercept a ball where contact is not initiated during the slide. Example: a player may slide to save a ball from going out-of-bounds or into a goal.

Game duration: 20 minute running game, no halftime. The game ends if one team has an 8 goal lead.

Please make sure you have all players ready to enter the field ~10 min before game time. Games will not be delayed based on players not being on time. Games will be considered a forefit if a team is not on the field within the first 5 minutes of a game starting.

Points and Tie-brakers:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. A forfeited game is scored as a 8-0 win for the team present.

In pool play, tie in points between two or more teams will be broken by :

Games played > Points > Win percentage > Wins > Point difference > Points for > Points against

Games during the playoff rounds that are tied after regular time shall proceed to a 4 minute golden goal overtime period (winning goal). If the score is still tied, the winner will be decided with 3 penalties per team.

Equipment:
All players must wear shinguards. U10-U12 use a size 4 ball. Please bring at least 2 balls for your team to use during each game.

Teams must have all their players wear a same colored shirt during play. We ask each team to bring two different colored shirts. Pennies will also be available in the situation there is a conflict.

Cautioned Players (Yellow Card): Players that receive two yellow cards in one game will result in a red card. (Please see red card rule). Any player accumulating three yellow cards during the day will automatically be suspended for their next game (no exceptions).

Player Ejection (Red Card): Referee’s have the right to eject a player from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending off. The team may then continue with their remaining players, however, if the player receiving the red card was on the field of play, the team must complete the entire game a player short. The player receiving the red card will automatically be suspended for rest of the tournament (no exceptions). Players that are red carded must leave the immediate playing area, including the fan and team areas. If the player delays or refuses to leave, the game will be forfeited in favor of opposing team (regardless of the score at the time of the incident).

If players are red carded for fighting, they will be ejected from the tournament (no exceptions).
